SPECIAL devotion is offered by the Hindus to traditional performing arts in the form of shadow puppetry. This six monthly ritual falls on Saturday Kliwon Wayang or better known as the Tumpek Wayang. A variety of offerings are presented on the day for the manifestation of God as Lord Ishvara. Puppet shadow has significantly colored the tradition of Balinese life for thousands of years. As traditional medium, it disseminates religious teaching, humor and entertainment leading to enlightenment. In line with tradition, it is handed down through generations.
